Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice; it is not to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
William Jennings Bryant
One of the major challenges facing residents once they have completed their programme is boredom. While their days will be filled with an active, rewarding career, evenings and weekends can become frustrating unless productive, positive activities can be found to fill the time.
It is not always possible to engage in activities that carry a financial cost, and Willowdene Farm places a significant emphasis on encouraging and helping residents to find free/low-cost activities that are easily reproduced in whatever locality they find themselves.
Residents are offered a variety of leisure activities on a weekly basis throughout their programme. These activities range from sporting activities, such as quad biking, football, cycling and swimming, to relaxing activities such as saunas, to social activities such as cinema trips and ten-pin bowling. Every activity is designed to promote confidence, social awareness and interest; and be easily reproducible in an everyday setting by each resident.
