Achievement is largely the product of steadily raising one's level of aspiration and expectation.

The extended farmhouse provides living accommodation for up to 12 residents with a house kitchen, garden room, and comfortable bedroom accommodation. Staff and residents share the living space, promoting a friendly, inclusive environment.

Extensive development of the site since its days as a working pig farm has not detracted from the traditional farm setting. Many of the original farm buildings remain and have been supplemented by state of the art IT, engineering and classroom facilities. The emphasis has moved from livestock to forestry, with much of the work now being centred on the management of Willowdene’s 80 acres of woodland.

The working-farm setting promotes development of a work ethic in residents, many of whom have never worked for any extended period. Residents are able to apply what they learn through their training, in a ‘real life’ setting in their day-to-day working activities on the farm, giving residents a head start when it comes to entering the commercial workplace.

Willowdene Farm’s setting also provides for creative uses of free-time, encouraging residents to discover purposeful leisure activities. A well stocked fishing pool, woodland walks, open areas for ball, table tennis, pool, table football, and a fully equipped woodwork shop, are just a few of the facilities available for residents to use in their free time.
